Interview: Delicious and Wholesome Food Delivery? Trust Grain.

Hi Sung! How and why did Grain come about?
When Grain started in 2014, the idea was simple: make it convenient to get delicious and wholesome food. What makes Grain stand-out from the other food delivery services in the market?
Most food delivery companies act as a middleman, bringing food from a restaurant to the customer. To achieve a great customer experience, Grain maintains control over every part of the entire supply chain from cooking to ordering to delivery. We believe that this is going to be the future of food delivery. By focusing on both taste and nutrition, our in-house culinary Masterchefs are able to curate the perfect food experience for our customers, so you can enjoy great food, guilt free. For example, our Chefs do things like swapping out mayo with nutritious cauliflower purée and the result is not only a healthier meal, but also a little unexpected and completely delicious. We also take in a lot of customer feedback, which provides a significant amount of data for us to constantly tweak and improve our meals and service. Data-driven food curation helps us get smarter, and build a service that our customers delight in. 

You mentioned that the menu changes weekly. What’s the thought process like when designing the menu for the week?
This is an interesting one. Chef Isaac, who heads up research and development here at Grain, apprenticed under Gordon Ramsay’s protege in his earlier days as a chef. With 11 years of experience, he has cooked for celebrities like the cast of American sitcom — Arrested Development, hip-hop group — Slum Village as well as rapper — Fat Joe. He also managed four different restaurants under the WWWconcept Group, at only 25 years old. It is safe to say that whenever he designs a new menu, the meticulous thought process, combined with his special taste palate produces a wild adventure for us all to enjoy - the perfect culmination of nutrition and taste so that we all get to eat better.

How can companies looking to embark on corporate wellness strategies partner with Grain?
The "old-school" style of raising awareness of health in the workplace is often through long health-talks with little actionable takeaways. We found out that by using Grain, our portfolio of clients who have entrusted us with their corporate workplace nutrition wellness programmes are able to better empower their employees to live and eat better. What exciting plans can we look forward to in the near future?
Right now, customers in the Central Business District can order their Grain meals and pick them up for free at a designated pick-up spot, or have them delivered to their doorstep for $3. In the next few months, we will be expanding different versions of this service to business parks scattered all over the country. This way, no one has to worry about having a wholesome and delicious lunch in the office, ever again. Our R&D Masterchef is also creating new menus for our exquisite catering line, so you will never have to settle for "normal", antiquated catering services ever again.
